Water supply owing to pro a low price. Only as skilled as the ones that cost double as greatly. The nose fissure is comfortable and not constricting.
- Evan J Blaickley "Blake"

Feature material and workmanship. I be inflicted including a small slim mug and the product all fit fairly well. The product did what I hoped it would - explicitly, protect my backtalk and nose early the wind and cold. I was competent to tint the product before to aid and it detained up. I went jogging and felt my backtalk and nose was confined well. It did get on to extremely lukewarm under the mask so I had to change (move it bitter of my nose for a even as) and readjust. Glasses fogged up keep for not so much including the intention of I couldn't think it over - adjusting and readjusting helped alleviate the fogging. The product shipped and arrived promptly. By and large, this was a skilled purchase and a feature product.

My best supporter throughout the bold chill. It has everlastingly come in clever primarily during the unquenchable snow storms. Splendid
- jj

I be fond of this product, it came on calculate, and it looks to be lukewarm, but one mass fits of laughter most didn't really bring about out for me. I fancy my have control ended wasn't so big... Additional than that, I would say A+. Doubtless inane to yield it to a supporter with a less important melon.
- S. Mathews

I ordered this half-mask to protect early make your way through, drizzle, and sun on my dirt bike. I live in a tropical climate so all three are a continuous. The mask fits OK, I be inflicted with a better than average nose and the slit is a piece forceful at era. I also wear prescription or sunglasses at almost all era, I've establish the breathing holes in the backtalk vicinity and the nostril notch in cooperation are not sufficient enough to prevent my glasses early fogging up. The neoprene does protect water supply hostile to drizzle and is reasonably water resistant. I would not recommend this product in a radiator climate, primarily lone with distinguished damp, as there is no passage right through the mask. Even in mild ride out, the black color attracts a ration of excitement and will place your face painfully boiling after removing it. Overall, an OK product compelling into account the price.
- kkpure

wow, kindness it extremely kind at approximately calculate ago shipping. I be inflicted including aid before to facility splendid and would diplomacy ended again. Extremely kind and actually fortunate w it.
- tom

Great belt for snowboarding not effective the mountain. Extremely comfortable, stays on your mug great, skilled vetilation, easy to breathe in, and keeps the mug extremely lukewarm.
- Jose

one things for sure, this manufactured goods keeps your face warm the only real issue is that if you own glasses (I do) they get fogged up so wickedly from in this that you're very nearly better off without them.

Clayton Kershaw throws the greatest modern no-hitter

The best pitcher in baseball pitched the best baseball game we've seen in 16 years, and what was perhaps the most excellent no-hitter in baseball history.

You've probably heard by now, but Clayton Kershaw cemented his position as the greatest active pitcher in baseball last night by twirling an unbelievable no-hitter against the Colorado Rockies. Not only did Kershaw throw a no-hitter (which we now see a few of every season), but he also struck out 15 batters, and didn't walk anyone, only allowing a runner to reach on an error.

It wasn't quite a perfect game, at least statistically, but it was one of the finest pitching performances we're ever seen.Dave Cameron at FanGraphs gives perhaps the clearest picture of just how dominant it was:

Here is the full list of nine inning outings with a Game Score of 102 or better, since 1914.

Kerry Wood: 105 (9 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 20 K)

Clayton Kershaw: 102 (9 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 15 K)

Thats it. Thats the entire list.

It was the third-most strikeouts of any pitcher in a no-hitter, behind Nolan Ryan's 17 and Nolan Ryan's 16.* Of course, Ryan walked batters in his no-hitters. Kershaw did not. That's incredibly impressive -- and difficult.

* - Yes, we know. Nolan Ryan was a boss.

But the strikeouts and walks weren't the only notable thing about this performance. See, with great strikeouts often come great pitch counts. Kershaw, however, dallied with a Maddux (a complete-game victory with under 100 pitches thrown). CK threw only 107 pitches, which is hardly any. We don't have official pitch counts for all no-hitters, but we have pitch count data for all of the recent ones.

In my opinion, this was the Ozymandias of no-hitters.

Ozymandias was the third-to-last episode of Breaking Bad*, which (thanks to it's dominance, excellence, and depth) was basically the Clayton Kershaw of television shows. Truthfully, it's the Clayton Kershaw of television shows only if you're not a Dodgers fan, because it can be pretty harrowing at times. Anyways, it features a compelling performance by a dynamic lead, lots of action, drama, and sometimes things move in directions you don't expect. It was -- at times -- horrifying. (But in a good way, right?)

* - It's been off the air for almost a year now, so I think the "seriously, stop talking about Breaking Bad" statute of limitations is over.

Most critically, it was the best (in my opinion) single event in a series of tremendous events. And while it made you think "what next?", it also makes you reflect on just how great things are, and how we got to this point.

And did we mention yet that Kershaw did this against thebest offense* in baseball?

* - The Rockies are really only the best offense in baseball by one measure: wOBA. And yes, I'm aware that wOBA isn't exactly a perfect measure when it comes to measuring team offense. It's better to use wOBA^2 or BaseRuns. In truth, the Rockies have a team wRC+ of 102, which is *only* eighth in the big leagues. The point is that the Rockies are a very good offensive team, and probably an average offensive team even with Gonzalez, Blackmon, Morneau, and Arenado out of the lineup, as they were last night.

Kershaw was, in a word, electric. He's doing incredible things to start a baseball career, and -- this is terrifying -- he's currently having the best season of his career.

So, given last night's astonishing dominance, how about we try to create a measure to come up with the best no-hitters and perfect games? After all, if no-hitters have become something more commonplace, happening a few times each season, why not find a way to identify the best no-hitters -- which aren't always the perfect games.

More from our team sites More from our team sites

The best no-hitters are the ones that are chock-full of strikeouts, limited in walks and -- ostensibly -- carry low pitch counts. I'm going to skip the pitch count issue right now, since we don't have that data for all no-hitters, but I can use Baseball-Reference's Play Index to identify the no-hitters with 10 or more strikeouts and two or fewer walks.

There's actually 28 of those no-hitters. More than a few perfect games show up: David Cone, David Wells, Mike Witt and Roy Halladay. After more consideration, I decided to up the strikeout total for this to 12, based on the Jake Arrieta Rule. (Jake Arrieta struck out 11 batters last night, so we have to do just a little better than that when we talk about all-time performances, right?)

If you boost the strikeout totals, you get only 13 no-hitters with 12 or more punchouts and two or fewer walks:

NameStrikeoutsWalksDateNolan Ryan16205/01/1991Clayton Kershaw15006/18/2014Warren Spahn15209/16/1960Matt Cain14006/13/2012Nolan Ryan14206/11/1990Sandy Koufax14009/09/1965Randy Johnson13005/18/2004Eric Milton13209/11/1999Mike Scott13209/25/1986Felix Hernandez12008/15/2012Dennis Eckersley12105/30/1977Sandy Koufax12106/04/1964Jim Bunning12207/20/1958

And this is a crazy list. You have some of the best pitchers of all time. Hall of Famers like Ryan (twice), Koufax (twice), Eckersley, Spahn, and Bunning. You have a no-doubt HoFer in Johnson, a pretty-sure HoFer in King Felix, and one of the best and most consistent pitchers of his era in Cain. You have Mike Scott, who had a couple of truly dominant seasons, including his ridiculous 1986.

And then you have Eric Milton. #cantpredictball

It's kind of cool to get a reminder about just how insane Matt Cain's recent no-hitter was -- it was just a hair below Kershaw's in terms of dominance (and King Felix's isn't a slouch).

Must Reads Must Reads Clayton Kershaw: Most money, best pitcher Early-season Cy Young predictions

When I was thinking this through, I thought maybe it'd be appropriate to call a no-hitter with this level of dominance a "Kershaw", given how historically great the Dodgers' ace's performance was -- but seeing that Ryan and Koufax have done something similar -- but not equal -- twice gives me pause.

Perhaps it'd be best to co-credit Koufax (and the strikeout, I suppose) on this one and call it a K-no-hitter. Or, given how much better it is than your run-of-the-mill Josh Beckett no-hitter, you could just call it a no-hitter+.

Either way, Kershaw's performance last night was the best of a rare breed. It's possible we'll talk about him to our grandkids the same way our grandfathers talk about Sandy Koufax.

(Dodgers fans are pretty lucky, right?)

Tony Gwynn leaves us too soon, but never forget his drive for perfection and ...

Lenny Ignelzi/AP Tony Gwynn, Mr. Padre, leaves us with plenty of baseball memories, with perhaps his most impressive being his chase for .400 that was cut short by the player's strike in 1994.

Bud Black is now the manager of the San Diego Padres, a team that was the beneficiary of Tony Gwynn's grace and talent for two decades, and this is what Black told me on Monday when he learned of Gwynn's death from cancer at the age of 54.

"It is a loss for the Padres," Bud Black said, "and a loss for the baseball community."

Black got right to it, then, with a sentiment as simple and pure and honest as Tony Gwynn's swing. And you should know that "baseball community" in this case means anybody who ever played with Tony Gwynn or against him, anyone who ever saw him hit or was lucky enough to know him. He was only the best pure hitter since Ted Williams. He was to the Padres as Stan Musial was to the Cardinals.

And once there was a baseball summer, cut short in August of 1994, the season cancelled and the World Series cancelled because of the last war between the owners and players, when he was on his way to being the first .400 hitter since Williams. One San Diego kid trying to chase another into history, before that chance was taken away from him in the middle of August.

That was Gwynn's chance to do something that Williams had last done in 1941 when he'd hit .406. He was hitting .394 when the season was called off. Maybe he wouldn't have been able to do it. Maybe even his swing wouldn't have stood up enough when August became September. But I will always believe he would have done it. And believe that Tony Gwynn believed it until he died Monday.

DENIS POROY/AP Tony Gwynn spends his career aiming to be perfect, resulting in 19 straight seasons in which he hit at least .300.

When he talked about the summer of '94 and what he was trying to do, he talked about trying to get to "four bills."

The first time he said that to me was on a summer afternoon at old Shea Stadium in '94. I was out there to write a piece about him for Esquire magazine. And before I found the piece on Monday, what I remembered best was just one of the best afternoons I have ever had in a ballpark, sitting first in the visitors clubhouse and then in the dugout and then on the field, talking about hitting a baseball with Tony Gwynn, and then watching him hit with the place quiet except for the sound of the ball on his bat.

This is what he said that day, the kid from San Diego State talking about the legendary ballplayer known as The Kid, Ted Williams:

"I'd wondered my whole life if I could be consistent enough across a whole season and then stay there. I wondered if I could make my run."

He had made his run. Then it wasn't the pressure of one of the magic numbers of his sport or any sport that stopped him. It was a strike. But he never complained about it. He just kept hitting.

Before the internet, before a few keystrokes could tell you the story of a man's baseball life, we used the Baseball Encyclopedia. And there are pages in that thick, wonderful book that I always said gave off a beam of light. Warren Spahn had a page like that, because of 363 victories in the big leagues, in a career that really didn't begin until he was 26, after World War II.

Gwynn has a page like that, a page that tells you that he hit .300 in 19 straight seasons. Maybe that is why Williams himself one long-ago night at the Ted Williams Museum in Florida, after an event hosted by my friend Bob Costas, told Gwynn afterward, the two of them just talking about hitting, that he had always considered Tony Gwynn a "magician" with the bat.

Gwynn hit over .350 seven times in his career. Seven. He never struck out more than 40 times in a season. He won eight batting championships and played in two World Series, pulling the '84 Tigers in one and then Torre's Yankees in 1998, at the end of one of the storied seasons in baseball history. Gwynn and the Padres got swept. He still got eight hits in those four games, on the greatest stage of his career, and hit .500.

Mike Groll/AP Gwynn's 3,141 career hits, eight batting titles, .338 career average and two NL pennants help earn him a well-deserved plaque in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

I told him that day at old Shea, when he was telling me about traveling with his own VCR machine on the road, taping the game he'd played that night, watching his swings, analyzing them, when he got back to his hotel room afterward. In the story I wrote that summer for Esquire, Tony Gwynn said, "What drives me is trying to be perfect."

There was this wonderful moment at Shea when it was time for Gwynn to go to work, in t-shirt and blue shorts. He turned and told me to watch, wherever the next pitch was, he was going to shoot a ball over where a shortstop would have been playing. That is exactly what he did on the next pitch he saw. And looked as happy as a Little League kid getting the first clean hit of his whole life.

When I left him that day I told him that it had been a very good day for me at the ballpark. Tony Gwynn smiled and shook my hand and said, "They're all good days."

He finally coached his alma mater, San Diego State, after his retirement from the Padres, coached them until cancer of the salivary gland made him too weak and too ill to continue. Now he dies young the way Kirby Puckett, another baseball star built the way Tony was, one who loved the game the way Tony did, died even younger. They were born a couple of months apart in 1960.

So Tony Gwynn, one of the best hitters of them all, leaves us too soon the way Kirby Puckett did. But he leaves us with the memory of his love of the game and the science of hitting, such a sweet disposition, that sweet swing. And of course that summer 20 years ago when he made his run at Ted Williams, and came up just short of four bills.

Meet Esther Earl, the Brave Girl Who Inspired The Fault in Our Stars

06/07/2014 at 01:15 PM EDT

Esther Earl

Yoon S. Byun/The Boston Globe/Getty

Onscreen and in the pages of the bestselling book, audiences have been captivated by the spirit and humor of The Fault in Our Stars's heroine, Hazel Grace Lancaster.

The character (played in the film by Shailene Woodley) was inspired by a courageous young woman: Esther Earl, who died at the age of 16 from thyroid cancer, was a good friend of author John Green's and supported his desire to write the book.

On his blog, Green referred to Earl as "young, blessed with a genuinely sophomoric sense of humor, silly, empathetic, madly in love with her friends and family, and a very gifted writer." Here are five things you should know about Green's muse:

1. She Bravely Fought Her CancerIn 2006, Earl was diagnosed with metastasized papillary thyroid cancer, making it difficult for her to breathe. Despite her illness, the Massachusetts teen continued to be a loving and hopeful person until the end, stating in one of her last YouTube videos, "I love my family and I love my sisters, I love my brother, I love my dad, I love my mom, and I love my pets. I love my friends. My friends are amazing." On Aug. 25, 2010, shortly after she turned 16, Earl lost her battle with cancer.

2. She Became a YouTube PersonalityEarl had a very big Internet presence on multiple platforms including Twitter and Tumblr. However, her friends, family, and fans got to know her best through her funny and empathetic videos videos. "I'm not always amazing," she said. "I'm not always strong and you guys should know that."

3. She and Green First Bonded at a Harry Potter ConferenceAfter meeting at the conference in 2009, Green and Earl continued to be friends throughout her life. They met various times before she died and the author paid homage to her in the video Rest In Awesome, Esther video: "Even though Esther has died we will continue to do work with her because it will be when we work to decrease world suck and when we show our love for others that Esther will be with us most."

4. Her Parents Founded a Charity in Her HonorHer parents, Wayne and Lori, founded This Star Won't Go Out, a nonprofit organization to help families who have a child with cancer, in honor of Esther, whose name means "star" in Persia. They also released a book with the same title that includes journals, fiction, letters and sketches by Earl, with an introduction by Green. "We want to share Esther's brightness and grace," Lori said last December. "In her short life, she grew into her name."

5. Her Memory Lives OnGreen promised her that he and his brother would make a video on their YouTube channel, Vlogbrothers, every year on her birthday, Aug. 3. Green coined the name "Esther Day," and said Earl wanted the day to be about "family and love." Every year friends, family and fans of Earl continue to celebrate the day as well, making their own videos to remember Earl's energy and life.

Initially of all is not that cheap, bandana clarification that you see everywhere or "squared" is a thick clarification, triangled shaped with Velcro. Ladies and gentlemen this is the real deal.
- Gilbert Green

My aim was to only wear it while riding on the highway. I will also toss it on when riding almost town now so I don't get hit in the face with rocks, sand, bugs, rain etc... Excellent buy, does it's job and looks mean.
- James O'Neil

My husband wanted this to keep the dirt out of his face even as deployed to Iraq and it served it's purpose impeccably. and it looks pretty cool below his head gear
- Jessica Baggett

Skilled for maintenance mug and narrow part lukewarm or maintenance a few bugs out of your teeth in summer. Not a facemask for the exhausted of chill but extremely comfortable !
- D. S. O'brien "MOTORCYCLE RIDER"

Not owing to to be a chill facemask,it is extremely comfortable, gentle and well owing to.It fits the form of your mug extremely well with an modifiable velcro strap in the back.
- Outlaw-525

I wear this when I make the somewhat chilly guide to work every morning (not freezing, but low-mid 50's) on my bike. In short I love this face mask, it is totally bad@ss!!!! I'll elaborate a little though in case you're on the fence about it.First, function: it breathes wonderfully. I planning that I would get the feeling of being short of breath or feel like I was inhaling used up air and start getting a little dizzy but I had no problem breathing at all when wearing this mask. In fact, I was able to breath fine and it actually would keep the cold air off my face completely. Even cruising down the road at 60 mph my face was not cold at all. I have a pair of leather gloves (granted they are getting a little old, but they are still in good shape) and my hands were getting chilled but my face was nice comfy and protected. For how thin the material is it offers excellent protection all through those chilly morning ridesFit: it fits great to say the least. It sits snug around the nose so you're not constantly having to pull it up for fear of it sliding off. The velcro that secures it on the back of your head holds tight and mine has never come apart or come loose. There is plenty of extra below your chin so you can tuck it into your shirt or coat to prevent any draft from coming in.Last, the look: as I mentioned earlier this thing is totally bad@ss!! I don't like to be the "hey, look at me!!!" type but when I'm on my all-black Harley Davidson Nightster and I throw this thing on it gives it the perfect in tears. If you're going for function, this mask will work. If you're going for looks, this mask will work. I love this thing and have zero complaints.
- Claudicate

Doesn't look anything be fond of the harvest picture. As I contacted the seller they replied with brisk responses about how the product image doesn't always imitate the product. The Skull image falls about 3 inches starting the top of the face mask and deceptively reflects online how it will match up to your face. The backtalk on the one I received is on the underside of my backtalk also the picture depicts that the neck cover will be more than ample, the mask I received was in the shape of a tiny bandana. Will by no means go owing to seller over again.
- Christopher Milazzo

I was super excited to get my mask. The only bummer is I expected their packaging empty. There was no mask just the lovely plastic bag including a picture of it.
- lINDSEY

Very comfortable and velcro stays tightly on when riding. I really like the look of it as it good wishes my helmet which has a skull on it. I get concentration from other drivers and public as i look real menacing riding down the road. This is also very comfortable to wear as the material conforms to my face. I'm able to wear this over 50% of my nose with my recently purchased goggles I bought on amazon and don't have to worry about it causing to fog up my goggles. I have a very good anti-fog type of goggles, however this mask will cause your sunglasses to fog up, so make sure you have a pair of true anti-fog goggles.
- Kaz "Kaz"

The manufactured goods is what it looks like. It should not fog no matter what thing up as long as you don't tuck it into your shirt. Got it for Oct but now i wear it around on cold days. A further note as damaged inverse no white shows thr.

I approved this pro my child to yield to his supporter pro his Birthday in check over of the fact including the intention of he loved what lone my child had early ZANheadgear. It's actually lukewarm and the coolness make your way through doesn't rub thru it be fond of watered-down ones. We was fortunate including the feature of it and the alacrity of shipping. My child has approved a release only any extra of uncommon designs early them. Practically fortunate including their benefit and manufactured goods.

Originally, I bought a full facemask for my son (12 yrs old) to wear on his walk home from school, but it didn't work out in view of the fact that the eyeholes were too small for him to wear his glasses. I establish this half mask and it works perfectly. The fit is good and when he wears it with a hat, he said he doesn't feel the wind on his face at all. It's easy for him to put on by himself and small enough to fold up and material in his pocket when he doesn't need it.We also like this in view of the fact that the mask isn't scary looking. Kids aren't allowable to wear masks on school property (mainly the skull ones), but so far no one has complained about the "paint splattered" one.

Good product needs more Velcro, not every self's head is same size, had to modify product, in order to fit by the book

Military Surplus GI Cold Weather Face Mask Shopper Reviews

The belt over the top is far too small to all fit over an adults head. Will end up having to modify the belt or just graze it off entirely if I want to aid it. The other two straps barely all fit my head, and I norm barely. Guaranteed it'll be very warm minus those issues.
- Midori Kaeru "D"

Growing up in the northern United States, you get used to bitter, frigid sub-zero temperatures all through the winter months. It's beautiful people, but it can make anything you need to do outdoors very difficult and unpleasant. Every so often (four to five era a week) I enjoy standing further than various homes in my town while wearing some form of horrifically frightening mask. Something simple like a clown mask, a gas mask or even just one of those colorless plastic face shaped jobs from the craft store. I just stand there and stare. It's extremely calming but, as you can presume, it can get sweet chilly.Sure, the folks in the house will eventually run screaming to their vehicles or maybe call the police - but that can take forever. Most everyone would agree that a random clown just standing further than your home and staring into your windows is sweet scary, but do you ever think how the clown feels? Depending on the time of year, I'm betting sweet cold. You can always opt for a ski mask, but those don't really stand out here. So what do you do? Enter the Military Surplus GI Cold Weather Face Mask that, hold on to your socks, is "like new." I've never felt so warm and toasty while simultaneously terrifying innocent residents of this sleepy little town. Cold Weather Face Mask? More like Gold Weather Face Mask.
- Flip Sauce

This is a skilled all ride out mask; its constructed of dual layer felt including the intention of stays extremely lukewarm, and on the further than is a fill up water-resistant fake pocket in. The fake pocket in flush has the narrow part bodyguard. The backtalk flicker is pin on pro easier breathing. The mind it at sea a star is in check over of the fact including the intention of the top belt is extremely tiny and not double-jointed so it fits of laughter awkwardly on my have control ended. Extremely lukewarm, great for the cold ride out. It believe great on your mug. The in trade straps are top to all fit throught a fit of guides in the in trade. Except you be inflicted including a small head it will not all fit. I moved the top cross belt to the underneath guide and the underneath belt is not used in a guide, only emancipated almost the most comfortable top almost my head. It all fit great once I did including the intention of. Will approve of a additional lone.
- Rayg711

This cut is water supply built and water supply-built. It has single one conundrum. It will not chat to fit an adult have control ended. With maximum adjustment it will doubtless fit the have control ended of a 13 year old with no hair. The fee is not high but postage and usage will extra than dual the fee. I won't restore it but I can't use it. The tie straps have no cleverness to stretch. I don't know approximately adult can map out a way to remanufacture the tie straps and get approximately use out of it. Solely a in tears moreover to draw collectively dust.
- CosmoStarMan

Except I missed something on ordering this has flat length straps with the intention of go ended your have control ended and this is a child size.No way will it fit my normal sized have control ended.
- gary stanford

I be inflicted including a 7.5 in sun-hat mass keep for this thing does not flush recommend itself accurate to decent. It really is not including the intention of skilled nor basically adjusted. It is release in this vicinity kids sizes and so I display don't dissipate your calculate on this be fond of i did.
