This manufactured goods beyond doubt keeps your face and neck warm. I use it when riding a moped at 40+ mph in 30-point ride out. The velcro doesn't allow for much adjustment and I find it slips a bit if I'm rotary my head a lot (I'm a female, 5'6, mean). If I put it on top of a plait as a substitution for of hostile to my neck it doesn't slip near as much. It smelled sweet bad when I got it - an overwhelming compound/fake smell. I've washed it and saturated wet it in febreeze but the smell is still imperceptibly there. The vent holes don't vent as much as I'd like. Maybe this would be a trade-off with love but I also wear riding glasses to care for my eyes and they constantly fog up when I wear the mask. I've never had a mask like this before to and don't have super high-priced fog-free specs, so maybe this just comes with the territory. By and large, a good buy for the money and works well for what I need it for.

Apple's (AAPL) Yosemite to become available in beta starting Thursday

The latest version of Apple's (AAPL) Mac operating system, OS X Yosemite, will become available for the public in a beta version starting Thursday.

The consumer tech giant stirred excitement for Yosemite last month at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).There, Apple provided a teaser into how it is expanding its ever-evolving ecosystem of devices. The emphasis was on connectivity. A feature called "Handoff", for example, lets users seamlessly transition whatever it is they're doing on one device making a phone call, working on a report onto another.

Developers have had the chance to experiment with the software since its June announcement. Now, users will get their chance to test it out.

To do so, you need to sign up for Apple's Beta Program. Then, the following day, you will receive an e-mail from Apple with a link and activation code that lets you to download the latest version of Yosemite. While users will not receive as many updates for their version as developers will, according to Wired, the public beta version will be updated to the same version available to all users once Yosemite is officially released this fall. But as Jim Dalrymple of The Loop points out, downloading software to your computer that's still in development is never entirely safe. Consequently, users are advised to either back up their data or use a secondary Mac to download the software.

Yosemite comes with a built-in feedback assistant app that lets users report bugs or their overall thoughts on the software to Apple, though only one million users can participate in the program.

This news comes on the heels of Apple announcing that its quarterly earnings for this year's third fiscal quarter were $37.4 billion in revenue, a 5.9 percent increase from last year. Its quarterly net profit was $7.7 billion.

"We're thrilled with the results, and we're thrilled with where we are going," Apple Chief ExecutiveTim Cooktold The Wall Street Journal. "The momentum is really strong."

Those strong numbers are due mainly to sales of the company's iPhone and Mac products. Apple sold 4.4 million Macs, up from 3.7 million the same time last year. Meanwhile, iPhone sales were 35 million, up from 31 million last year. But the company sagged in iPad sales, with only 13 million units sold, down from 14 million in the previous year.

Sagging iPad sales, analysts have noted, stem mainly from maturity in the tablet market and the penetration of "phablets" smart phones with large screens. Consequently, as numerous news reports have noted, Apple will likely be releasing its new iPhone 6 some time by the end of this year. And this new phone will be available in two versions, one with a 4.7-inch screen and the other with a 5.5-inch screen.

But it is Apple's penetration into China that accounts for much of the iPhone's success of late. Apple said iPhone sales were up 55 percent in Brazil, Russia, India, and China, according to The Wall Street Journal, noting that iPhone sales rose 48 percent in China alone.

"Just to be sitting here and looking at (the Claret Jug) and having my name on it, it's a great feeling. It obviously hasn't sunk in yet. I'm going to enjoy it and let it sink in tonight in the company of my friends and family."

With a closing 1-under-par 71, McIlroy finished at 17-under-par 271, two shots clear of Garcia and Fowler, who did all they could to make McIlroy earn it with finishes of 66 and 67, respectively.

Jim Furyk rushed home with a 65 to finish four shots back in fourth. Five shots back were world No. 1 Adam Scott (66) and Marc Leishman (65). Tiger Woods shot 69 in the first round but then slid back with rounds of 77-73-75 and beat just three players. Defending champion Phil Mickelson never got going with rounds of 74-70-71-68 and tied for 23rd.

"When he's in rhythm he's phenomenal," Scott said of McIlroy. "He doesn't have weaknesses and he has more strengths than most anyone else. When he's in rhythm, you'll see him shoot low numbers all the time. And yesterday he finished like a champion to pretty much take a little bit of heat off him today. It was probably tough for Rory out there today, but that's the advantage of having that extra power that he has."

Relying on what he called trigger words to ready himself for every shot process and spot and with nary a challenge from Mother Nature during a week of few clouds, pleasant breezes and pleasing temperatures and just a few spots of rain, McIlroy joined his boyhood idol, Woods, and Jack Nicklaus as the only players to win three different majors by the age of 25.

And to go with his romps by eight shots in the 2011 U.S. Open and the 2012 PGA Championship, McIlroy is a Masters win away from joining Nicklaus, Woods, Gary Player, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen as the only players to win the career Grand Slam.

"I never dreamed of being at this point in my career so quickly," McIlroy said. "Even though there's still one major left this year that I want to desperately try and win, I'm looking forward to next April and trying to complete the career Grand Slam."

Last year he wasn't looking forward to much of anything. Still trying to get comfortable with his new golf equipment and dealing with ramifications from a split with his old management team that spilled into the courtroom this year, McIlroy was out of sorts in last year's Open at Muirfield, where he missed the cut and said he was "brain dead."

This year, off the course issues have again challenged his psyche, especially breaking off his engagement with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki after wedding invitations were mailed out. But McIlroy focused his energy on the golf course and treated it like his sanctuary. The week he broke it off with Wozniacki, he won the BMW PGA Championship, the European Tour's flagship event. As for his habit of not breaking 40 for nine holes on Fridays, which he's done six times this year, he took care of that this week.

"I've really found my passion again for golf," McIlroy said. "Not that it ever dwindled, but it's what I think about when I get up in the morning. It's what I think about when I go to bed. I just want to be the best golfer that I can be. And I know if I can do that, then trophies like this are within my capability."

While the odds were against them at the start of the day, Garcia and Fowler made things interesting, with Garcia getting within two shots on three occasions before McIlroy took a three-shot lead to the final hole.

It was Garcia's 19th top-10 in a major but he remains winless in 64 starts. Still, he will leave Hoylake with far more positive than negative thoughts, confident his solid play that has produced 23 top-10s in 45 starts, including four victories, will continue.

"It's difficult when you're in a situation where you know you can't make a mistake. It just puts that little extra pressure," Garcia said. "But so many good things happened throughout this week. And even today I got a couple of really good breaks. At least I'm proud of the way I played.

"I wanted to at least make him feel a little bit of pressure and see how he would respond. And he obviously responded well. Every time I got closer, he kept making one birdie and not letting me get any closer than that. I felt like I did almost everything I could. And there was a better player. It's as simple as that.

"You don't have to look at other things. It's just that simple."

Fowler, whose work with Butch Harmon this year is taking hold, added another strong finish in a major to his resum, having finished in a tie for fifth in the Masters and in a tie for second in the U.S. Open this year. While he was disappointed in getting so close to clutching the Claret Jug, he's ecstatic that he locked up a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team for their biennial tussle with Europe from Sept. 23-28 in Scotland.

"Rory just kind of distanced himself from the field a bit, especially with his finish yesterday," Fowler said. "It's hard to be disappointed about it, because it was such a great week. And with the way I had been playing in the majors, there was some pressure to play well this week. But with how comfortable I've been, it doesn't feel like a big stage. It feels like I should be here.

"I'm definitely pleased with it. There's plenty more to come. I'll take 15 under in a lot of majors and sit there and wait in the clubhouse. Congratulations to Rory. He played awesome. And it was just kind of fun to throw a few shots at him coming in. To see him win was pretty cool."

Hurricane Arthur puts a damper on July 4 celebrations

A hurricane wheeling up the Atlantic Ocean is wreaking havoc on Independence Day fun from the Mid-Atlantic to New England.

The annual Boston Pops Fourth of July concert was moved from Friday to Thursday. Surf City, N.C., scrapped its annual fireworks show. On the North Carolina shore, celebrations were pushed to Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

Arthur was designated as the first Atlantic hurricane of the season early Thursday. In the days last minutes, the storm made landfall near the southern end of North Carolinas Outer Banks.

Arthur was a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph and was moving northeast at 18 mph, the Associated Press reported. After Friday morning, Arthur is forecast to continue toward New England.

Although they are clear of the hurricanes predicted path, Virginia Beach and Marylands Eastern Shore are expecting wind and rain to put a damper on July4 celebrations. Ocean City, Virginia Beach and Bethany Beach rescheduled their fireworks to Saturday night.

Astronauts on board the International Space Station got a dramatic view of Tropical Storm Arthur off Cape Canaveral, Florida Wednesday. (NASA)

The National Park Service said it hopes to hold its fireworks show on the Mall in Washington as scheduled Fridaynight, but it is prepared to postpone it if the weather interferes.

Carol Johnson, a Park Service spokeswoman, said 6,000 fireworks were set up early on Thursday near the Lincoln Memorial, along with a fence to protect the fireworks and mesh to shield them from sidelong rain.

As long as anyone can remember, theyve never been rescheduled, Johnson said. Theyve maybe been pushed back half an hour.

Jason Samenow, meteorologist for The Washington Posts Capital Weather Gang, had predicted that the storm could have winds as fast as 105mph as it hit land in North Carolina, making it powerful enough to damage roofs and take down trees and power lines.

This is looking like the most potent hurricane to make landfall in the United States in six years, Samenow said.

Washington and its suburbs will be only slightly affected, Samenow said. The hurricane is not expected to come inland as far as the District, but the moisture and humidity from the storm system contributed to severe thunderstorms in the region Thursday afternoon.

Those storms knocked out power for tens of thousands of customers across the Washington region, tore part of the roof off an apartment building in College Park, toppled trees onto roads and houses, and splattered the region with quarter-size hail. One woman was struck by lightning in Montgomery County but was not seriously injured.

As of 9p.m., about 80,000 outages were reported across the region, with almost 34,000 customers without electricity in Montgomery County and 29,000 without power in Prince Georges County.

Also Thursday night, severe thunderstorms delayed trains between Washington and Philadelphia .

Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said about 20trains were delayed by intermittent power outages and downed trees in areas between the District and Philadelphia, but mainly in the corridor north of Baltimore. As of 10:30p.m., hundreds of passengers continued to deal with delays as trains traveled through areas that had lost power.

Were just sort of slow moving through the area, Graham said.

In Montgomery County, fire department spokesman Pete Piringer said a woman was struck by lightning near the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Democracy Boulevard but was not seriously injured.

By Saturday, the weather should be clear at the beaches in North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland, and beaches in New England will be clear by Saturday afternoon. Even though the skies will be sunny, the storm will leave behind high seas and rip currents that could make swimming risky until Sunday.

In North Carolina, Gov. Pat McCrory (R) declared a state of emergency for 25coastal and adjoining counties Wednesday evening. Dont put your stupid hat on, he said at a news conference, urging those who choose to stay to avoid the water. On Thursday, he reassured residents and visitors that the state was prepared for the worst but was optimistic.

This holiday weekend is one of the biggest weekends for coastal tourism, he said, and we expect a beautiful weekend after the hurricane.

Hurricanes are hardly a new experience for the Outer Banks, which was hit by Irene in 2011, Ophelia in 2005, Alex in 2004, Isabel in 2003 and Floyd in 1999.

The thin, fragile islands are prone to flooding. Most houses are built on stilts for just that reason.

Hatteras Island, a long stretch of sand that covers half the length of the Outer Banks, was put under mandatory evacuation Thursday, officials said. Ocracoke Island, to the south, was under voluntary evacuation.

For others, however, the oncoming storm interrupted holiday plans.

Were going to get together at our house back in Silver Spring and simulate our time together with a barbecue, Mary Jo Schumaker said Thursday as she returned from Hatteras, where she and her family vacation with friends each summer.

They had to evacuate in August2011 for Hurricane Irene, so they moved their trip to earlier in the season to avoid future storms. And yet they were forced off the island again.

Were all very disappointed, she said. But when youre dealing with nature, theres not much you can do.

I actually loved my old Schampa balaclava, and I wish I could dredge up what develop it was so I could exchange it. (I lost it while being transported to the urgent situation room with a motorcycle manufacturing accident) It seems like this would be warm, but I refined upo giving it to my 10-year-old to use for his Ninja suit.

I bought one of these in trade in 2009 and it was the best balaclava I had always worn nice and long not too tight and I was happy!, so happy I wanted a further one, exact same model "Schampa Coolskin" and it fits like crap. It's like I was agreed a kids balaclava?? What happened to the one size fits all?? What happened to the design.. I sat them in cooperation next to each other and they are completely different.. I want to know who resolute to change the design.. I didn't even quest anywhere else for a balaclava.. I went to my order history by date, looked up 2009 and there it was subdue in my history. I just clicked on it and checked out.. Disappointed.

I don't often take the time to write reviews. I expected this 4 or 5 days ago and have used it twice riding my dirt bike home from work at night 40 outline in 35-40 point temps. I planning this would help, but was/am actually impressed with how WELL it works. One size fits all - fits me impeccably, very comfortable, easy to breathe owing to and most much, keeps me warm. If you need filling for face/neck area for riding, get this manufactured goods. Also, it makes you look like a ninja - added bonus. Amazon sound as usual.

May be just me, but this product fits VERY tightly. You would have to have a very small head for it to be comfortable. Just my opinion.

I was a bit skeptical when I first got since the material was thinner than I'd expected. But it did keep my face very warm going down the Adirondack slopes this year, and it fits under a helmet with no conundrum.
